Delaware City FC Big Win

Delaware City FC delivered an impressive performance last Sunday, defeating Northern Virginia FC 6–3 in a highly anticipated rematch. After falling short in their previous MASL 3 away meeting, Delaware City responded in front of their home supporters with a statement win.

Northern Virginia started quickly, jumping out to a 2–0 lead early in the first quarter thanks to two goals from Jean Phillipe. Delaware City answered soon after, as Jonnathan Segura beat his defender and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner to cut the deficit to 2–1.

Momentum continued to swing when Tachito Olivas capitalized on a poor free kick from Northern Virginia, taking the ball the length of the pitch and rounding the goalkeeper to level the match at 2–2 by the end of the first quarter.

Delaware City seized control in the second quarter. Agi Pacheco gave the hosts their first lead of the night, firing home a free kick to make it 3–2. Pacheco then turned provider, assisting Olivas for his second goal of the match as Delaware extended the advantage to 4–2. Carlos Lievano added another before halftime, sending Delaware City into the break with a commanding 5–2 lead.

Northern Virginia showed fight in the third quarter, as Johnny De Souza capitalized on a set piece to narrow the gap to 5–3. However, Luis Flores sealed the victory with Delaware City’s sixth and final goal of the night, securing a 6–3 result.

In a tense Atlantic Division matchup, Delaware City FC’s victory moves them to the top of the division standings. They now turn their focus to a road trip to Baltimore, where they will face the Baltimore Kings for the first time this season on February 22nd.

Luis Flores currently leads Delaware City FC in both points (18) and goals (11), with Agi Pacheco close behind on 14 points and 11 goals this season.
